Carrier Sales Representative


SACRAMENTO, CA      Job ID 2021-6482

Description 

The ideal candidate must perform as a strategic sales rep who will oversee company goals through sales and marketing engagements. These engagements will include; freight management from pickup point to delivery, negotiation of freight rates, making vital decisions, and sustaining all carrier relationships.

Role tasks
  • The sales rep must assist in safeguarding profitability and protecting its bottom line by negotiating freight rates with motor carriers.
  • Should be able to manage customer freight
  • Will be primarily responsible for managing the business relationship with motor carriers by providing service and support.
  • Manage the entire sales process.
  • Coordinate targets using chosen account metrics and work with motor carriers to assist with tracking updates and other shipment issues
  • Cross-check and confirm all freight charges and verify all receipts of the Bill of Lading. He/she must also resolve payment issues before the final payment to the motor carrier to avoid unnecessary loss.
  • Should be reachable after office hours for issues of great urgency
  • Capable of handling other routine tasks such as identifying lanes/carriers to gauge capacity and manage the sales network regularly.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate must possess the following qualifications and attributes;

  • Previous experience in a similar setting is preferred but not required as full training will be given
  • Ability to communicate clearly and confidently
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree is preferred, not required
  • Ability to resolve problems and client inquiries
  • Must be able to perform independently of others
  • Should possess persuasion, motivation, and team-building abilities
  • Must be driven by results and should be able to focus on details and handle several tasks/multiple software systems during an allotted time period.
