If you are looking forward to working as a driver for a trucking company, it is essential to have a basic understanding of the amount that you will be able to earn as well. Then you can compare and see whether it aligns with your expectations or not.
First of all, see whether you want to come back to your home every single night. If you do, you will not be able to go for the best earnings. On the other hand, the size of the truck you drive and the company that you work for also can create an impact on the amount of money that you will be able to make at the end of the day.

The truck drivers are usually being paid on an hourly basis. The average hourly pay rate of a truck driver ranges in between $12 and $16. The factors mentioned above heavily determine it. When you compare the hourly pay of the truck drivers with fixed salaries, you will figure out that they are considerably low. However, the truck drivers can choose their schedule. For example, this is the best approach available for a truck driver to follow, if he wants to get back home every night.

The payments that are being made for the Over the Road truck drivers heavily depend on their level of experience and the type of fright that is taken. On the other hand, distance and company can also create an impact on the payments. Just like all other jobs, experienced truck drivers can demand a better salary. Likewise, the larger companies are in a position to provide a better payment to the truck drivers, along with better compensation.

It is also possible for you to find truck companies, which pay their drivers based on the number of miles that are being driven on the road. This amount can range from 20 cents per mile up to 40 cents per mile. The geographical location would play a significant role behind the amount of money that a truck driver will be able to make per mile. On the other hand, the drivers who carry hazardous goods will be provided at a higher rate when compared to others. They will also be eligible for receiving new bonuses.

As per the official statistics recorded by the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the average yearly salary of a truck driver is around $39,000 to $40,000 per year. However, it is also possible for you to find truck drivers who are making more than $100,000 per year. They are the ones who carry inflammable or hazardous goods in the most challenging geographical regions. They have a lot of experience in working as truck drivers as well.

If you are a person who enjoys driving large vehicles such as trucks and if you enjoy being on the road for days, you will be able to think about taking your career as a truck driver. It can be considered as one of the best decisions that you will be able to make in your life as well.
